Enrollment

Our enrollment process requires parents/guardians to complete an admission form and provide information about their child(ren) and themselves. This information helps to assure the safety of your child(ren).

 If at any time you choose to unenroll your child(ren) we require a two week written notice and all balances paid in full through the last day of the written notice.

Closures and Cancellations

For program cancellations, we will be closed whenever inclement weather interferes with safe travels and when public schools close since we follow the BISD scholastic calendar. We will also be closed during the following days and holidays:

Facility Hours

Our After School Program hours are 3:10 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. There is a sign in/out sheet at the entrance of the facility. Please sign your child(ren) in/out daily.

After School Program Schedule

  • 3:10-3:45 - Arrival and Snack Time
  • 3:50-4:00 - Clean-Up/Wash Up
  • 4:00-4:45 - Homework
  • 4:45-5:00 - Clean-Up/Wash Up
  • 5:00-6:15 - Activity Time
  • 6:15-6:30 - Clean-up

Transportation

We will provide transportation via bus for Pre-K-6th grade child(ren) from designated campuses to our facility.

The bus is equipped with a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit. The staff will carry a cell phone at all times to notify the facility in the event of a flat tire, mechanical problem, or any other issues. 

Water Activities/Field Trips/Animals

At this time, we do not provide or participate in water activities and/or field trips during the school year. Water activities/field trips are implemented in our Summer Program when applicable. We do not allow animals in the facility. 

Discipline and Guidance

We practice the use of positive methods of discipline and guidance that encourage self-esteem, self-control, and self- direction which includes the following:

  • Using praise and encouragement of good behavior not only focusing on unacceptable behavior.
  • Reminding a child of behavior expectations daily by using clear and positive statements.
  • Redirecting behavior with positive statements.
  • Implementing brief supervised separation or self reflection time from the group. Self reflection time is limited to no more than one minute per year of the child’s age.

Release of Children

We will only release child(ren) to the specified parent or guardian listed, so notify us in advance if someone else will be picking up your child(ren). The person who picks up your child(ren) must show any photo ID, which will be photocopied and filed.

We understand that unexpected events may delay your arrival for pickup. But please note that we close at exactly 6:30 PM and you will be charged a fee of $1 per minute should you fail to arrive after 6:35 PM to pick up your child(ren).

Medical Requirements and Medication:

All enrolled child(ren) must have the following:

  • Current Immunization record on file.
  • Hearing and vision results on file.

Medication:
We will not administer any medication to child(ren) however, if your child(ren) requires medication you are welcome to come to facility to administer medication to your child(ren) as needed.

Insurance

D.A.S.P. does not provide liability insurance. 

Illness and Exclusion Criteria

We cannot care for child(ren) who:

  • Are not able to participate comfortably in the facility’s activities.
  • Has an illness that requires more care than the staff can provide without compromising the health, safety, and supervision of other child(ren) in the group.
  • Has uncontrolled diarrhea.
  • Has an oral temperature of 100.4 degrees or armpit temperature of 99.4 degrees.
  • Has had two or more episodes of vomiting.
  • Has a communicable disease.

The child(ren) can return to care when the child(ren) has been symptom free for 24 hours or if the child(ren)’s doctor provides a statement verifying that the child(ren) is no longer contagious. We understand that it is difficult to miss work or commitments, but if we call and ask you to come pick up your child(ren) please do so as promptly as possible.

In Case of Emergency

In the event of a critical illness or injury, we will immediately call 911 or take the child(ren) to the nearest emergency room. We will also administer CPR or first-aid when needed and contact the child(ren)’s doctor.

We know the difficulties of missing work and other prior commitments, but please pick up your child(ren) as quickly as possible when requested. If you or your specified guardian cannot be reached, we will then get in touch with the emergency contact you’ve provided.

Reporting Suspected Child Abuse

We are required by law to report any suspected incidents of possible child abuse or neglect. If you have concerns about a child(ren) in our care please contact the Director. The Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services instruct us not to notify the parent/guardian of the report. You may also report the suspected abuse or neglect by Calling the Child Abuse hotline: 1-800-252-5400 24 hours/7 days a week.

Parental and Volunteer Participation

We welcome parents who wish to volunteer at any of our facilities. Note that we will require you to provide information for a criminal background check, complete a notarized background affidavit, and attend an orientation before you are able to do so.

Reviewing Minimum Standards and Reports

A copy of the Minimum Standards is available for review in the office. Our most recent Licensing Inspector report is always posted on the bulletin board in the front of our facility.
